Privacy & cookies
How we look after the details you give us — in plain English.
The short version
- We only collect what we need to quote for and look after your boat.
- We never sell your details, and we don't send marketing unless you ask for it.
- Our own visitor statistics use no cookies at all. Google or Facebook tracking only loads if you click Accept.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your details at any time.
Who we are
Awlworks Ltd (“Awlworks”, “we”, “us”) is part of Bluewater Boats Ltd. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website and when you contact or work with us. Our address is Old Barn Farm, Harbury Road, Ladbroke, Warwickshire, CV47 2DF.
What we collect
When you send a booking request or a message, we collect the details you give us, which may include:
- your name, email address and phone number;
- details about your boat — its name, length, type and where it is moored;
- photos or videos of the hull you choose to send;
- your preferred dates and anything else you tell us in your message.
If you become a customer we also keep records of the quote, the work carried out, invoices and payments.
Why we use it
We use your information to reply to you, prepare a quote, book your boat into the yard, arrange collection and delivery, carry out the work and keep proper business records. Under UK data protection law our reasons (“lawful bases”) are:
- Taking steps towards, and carrying out, a contract with you — quoting and doing the work you ask for;
- Legal obligations — for example keeping accounting records;
- Legitimate interests — running and improving our business, such as understanding which pages people find useful;
- Consent — for optional analytics and advertising cookies, which you can decline.
Statistics without cookies
We count page views ourselves without cookies and without storing your IP address. Each visitor is represented by a code that changes every day, so we cannot recognise you from one day to the next. If you follow a link with campaign tags (for example from one of our Facebook posts) we record those tags so we can see which posts are worth the effort.
Cookies and analytics
Only if you click Accept on the cookie banner do we load Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager or advertising pixels (such as Meta/Facebook). These may set cookies and share information with those companies. If you click Decline, none of them load. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser; the banner will then ask again.
Staff who sign in to our admin area receive a small cookie that stops their own visits being counted in our statistics.
Who we share it with
Your details are seen by our team, and by the companies that provide our website hosting and email. Where we arrange transport for your boat we share the details the haulier needs to collect and deliver it. We do not sell personal information, and we don't share it with anyone for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that don't go ahead are deleted after around two years. Customer records, quotes and invoices are kept for six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as required for accounting purposes. Visitor statistics are removed automatically after 26 months.
Keeping it safe
The website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Staff access to our admin area is password-protected, with optional two-step sign-in, and photos you upload have their location data removed.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected, deleted or restricted, to object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. Just email us at [email protected] and we'll respond within one month.
Questions and complaints
If you have a question or you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please get in touch first on (01926) 811699 or at [email protected] and we'll do our best to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
