Pericles - Built to Last - Shot Blast & Blacking and Re-fit
Pericles came into us as one of our own after 17 years for shot blast and two pack epoxy black to the base plate and a partial re-fit
Pericles is a bespoke wide beam that we originally built back in 2008. As part of the original build, her hull was shot blasted and protected with a two-pack epoxy blacking system.
After recently being sold, her new owner decided to bring her back to us for some interior re-fitting work, as well as having the base plate shot blasted and protected with two-pack epoxy blacking.
It was fantastic to see Pericles back in our workshop after so many years, and even better to see just how well she had stood the test of time. Considering the hull blacking had not been renewed for many years, she returned to us in fabulous condition, with no signs of pitting to the steelwork.
For us, Pericles is a great example of why we have believed in shot blasting and two-pack epoxy protection for so many years. Proper preparation and a quality coating system can make a huge difference to the long-term protection of a boat's hull. As the existing superstructure paintwork was still in very good condition, there was no need for a full repaint. We carefully prepared and sanded the existing topcoats before applying Alexseal Acrylic X Clear Coat, reviving the gloss and giving the paintwork a fresh, high-quality finish while adding an extra layer of protection.
Alongside the hull work, we carried out interior alterations and re-fitting to adapt Pericles to suit her new owner's requirements, giving this 2008 Bluewater wide beam a new lease of life.
