New Build Wide Beam – Full Shot Blast & Paint System

This new-build Colecraft wide beam came to Awlworks in 2024 for a complete exterior preparation and professional paint system.
The entire exterior hull, including the base plate, was shot blasted back to clean bare steel, providing the ideal surface for long-term protection and a high-quality finish.
Following blasting, we applied a complete two-pack paint system, including two-pack epoxy coatings below the waterline and a combination of high-build primers, undercoats and Alexseal Acrylic X topcoats to the superstructure.
Non-slip coatings were incorporated into the roof, gunnels, bow and stern decks to provide a practical, durable finish in the main walking areas.
The owners chose a lovely colour scheme, finished with striking teal and yellow rubbing strakes, giving this bespoke wide beam plenty of character.
Works included: shot blasting of the complete exterior and base plate, two-pack epoxy protection, high-build primers and undercoats, Alexseal Acrylic X topcoats, and non-slip deck finishes.
A great example of the benefits of protecting a brand-new shell properly from the outset.
